Hi. I'm Tesse. My favorite color is pink. I know way too much about skincare and haircare (LOVE it). I spend a lot of my time writing stories for brands and artists that: empower, create cultural awareness and inspire everyone to have just a little more fun.

I've been writing my whole life. As a kid, I did theater and directed my first play at seventeen. Believe it or not, it was Cervantes' The Puppet Show. It was translated from Spanish to English in a way that reflected modern society's obsession with beauty and the material world.

I'm still obsessed with beauty and the material world. I'm inspired by colors, textures, sounds and people (especially Karl Lagerfeld). The way I view storytelling is through a multi-cultural lens because I'm mixed; neither of my parents was born (or grew up) in the States. My first languages were Spanish, Chinese and Russian (I didn't learn English until I started going to school)!

My favorite moment in this industry was when I was part of Vogue's Fashion Festival in Paris, 2017. Karl Lagerfeld was speaking about how the fashion industry has changed since his role at Chanel. He talked about the inspiration for making the black dress iconic.

Black wasn't considered chic yet. It was an iconic color for funerals. HOWEVER, the black dress was made with the intention of allowing the focal point to be the silhouette—and most importantly, the woman. Feminine, provocative and classic. I did not wear black to this event. I wore a cream Agent Provocateur corset over an emerald, silk Givenchy skirt and a simple lace top that my aunt made. SO, after his talk, Karl waved at me and said, " I make clothes for women like you. You know yourself and that's why we do this." Since that quick encounter, I realized that advertising is a series of quick encounters. And those quick encounters can be extremely meaningful if they are personal. We do this so that people can express themselves while also discovering who they are (or can be). And when there's a quick moment where one realizes they are fully aware - well, that's why we do this!
